Julie Pasquet’s project : Up For Europe
Julie, who has a double degree from TBS and Sciences Po Toulouse, is actually taking a year out between her Masters I and 2, to work on a project named Up For Europe.
Very committed to protection of the environment, Julie has decided to create her own project to make a positive impact on the problem. The project involves a tour of Europe to meet students and join forces to write a collection of concrete political proposals for a more ecological Europe. They plan to finish the trip in Brussels and defend these proposals in front of the commissions of the European Parliament. The trip will last from March to June 2020 and will include 16 European countries.
What is the context? |
In 2018, the IPCC scientists made it more than clear : By 2040 the carbon neutrality point must be reached in order to sustain a 1.5° increase, and avoid irreversible catastrophes. While this observation is alarming, has not stopped the emergence of positive and optimistic initiatives such as the L’affaire du siècle, the Student Manifesto for Ecological Awakening, or the Climate Marches all over the world.
Over the last couple of months, young people have been striking every Friday in a call for action in the face of the urgency. Students want change and their ranks are increasing constantly.
In the transition towards real ecological and social progress, we must rally our strengths and bank on the collective and mutual aid.
This is where Europe plays an vital role : our continent has a major card to play to pull off this huge challenge.
