Philippe GARABEDIAN (TBS 2005) - Operational Director

Can you tell us a little about yourself ? 

My name is Philippe Garabedian, I am 38 years old and I am the Operational Director of the company, Myriade. I have been working in the healthcare sector for more than 12 years, specifically in innovative SMEs. My work is very interesting because it allows me to work everyday on breakthrough innovations while keeping in mind that that is beneficial for every one of us.

Why did you chose TBS for your studies ? Tell us about your time as a student at TBS ! 

I chose TBS in 2001 because the School filled several criteria : post-graduation employability, international exchanges, located in the South of France. I spent 2 years in Toulouse before doing a work-study placement (which I fully recommend). After that, I had the opportunity to studey a combined honours degree in my third year at the University of Deusto in San Sebastian (Basque country on the Spanish side).

Over and above the skills I acquired, the years at TBS specifically taught me to think. During my studies, I was president of the direct marketing / Job Service association (now called EasyJob) for 2 years. 

Have you any stories to share with us ? 

One of the most important things for me was meeting with the bunch of friends in a group called Ekip8. We have been together ever since. Nearly 20 years of friendship, thanks to TBS !

What are you doing today and how did you get to this point in your professional career ? 

After the year I spent on a work-study placement with General Electric Healthcare, I really wanted to continue in the healthcare sector. I was particularly passionate about technology, I wanted to work in an area that is permanently innovating and working for the commun good.  

I began my career as a Consultant. I then went to work for ECHOSENS (medical imagery) as Product Manager from 2008 to 2012. From 2012 to 2016, I worked at Mauna Kea Technologies (medical imagery) where I was promoted from Senior Product Manager to Head of Product Management. Before joining Myriade in October 2019, I have been Corporate Marketing Manager with SEPTODONT (dental pharmaceutical industry) since 2016.

My professional career has given me the chance to launch a dozen innovative medical devices in several different areas of medecine, including gastroenterology, urology, interventional radiology or in dentistry. Now, within Myriade, I am discovering the world of biotechnology and research. 

What advice would you give to TBS students and/or Alumni who are looking to follow your career path ? 

Think outside the box ! Be curious !
