Géraldine de Saint Salvy: a successful career change thanks to TBS Education

07 November 2024 Portraits / Podcasts

After a 15-year career in marketing and communications, Géraldine de Saint Salvy decided to reorient herself in the field of Human Resources and resumed her studies at TBS Education in a Specialized Masters (MS). Today, as career manager at Unikalo and founder of Saint Salvy Coaching, she shares her successful career change with us! Géraldine is the coach who will make you dare to take care of your professional life.

Reshape your career with TBS Education

By joining TBS Education's Mastère Spécialisé (MS) Manager des Ressources Humaines, ranked number 1 in the Eduniversal 2024 regional rankings, Géraldine acquired the technical skills and credibility she needed to make the leap into a new field.

Thanks to this training, she has not only strengthened her expertise in employment law and skills management, but has also developed a solid network in the HR world, an invaluable asset for her professional reintegration.

“TBS Education offered a Specialized Masters (MS) in Human Resources Management that was highly regarded by the HR firm I was working with. I also knew several of the quality lecturers in this program.”

Entrepreneurship or salaried employment: why choose when you can do both?

This reconversion enabled her to become an HR Consultant with LHH, a major management consultancy, and to develop internally. After 7 years with LHH, she felt the need for a change. She joined Unikalo as Head of Career and Skills Management. At the same time, she founded Saint Salvy Coaching, a consultancy specializing in supporting professional transformation and evolution.

“I still loved my job, but we had very little latitude when it came to carrying out assignments, and the administrative burden weighed on me. Today, I do the same job, only more agile.”

Her guiding principle has always been support, and she emphasizes the fundamental difference between consulting and coaching. Unlike a consultant, a coach does not give advice. They must create the conditions for their clients to find their own solutions.

The Hogan method: a tool for getting to know yourself better

In addition to her coaching work, Géraldine uses the Hogan Assessments tool, a scientific method for assessing personality in a professional context. A certified Hogan referent, she uses this test to help her clients better understand their strengths and weaknesses, particularly in stressful situations.

“The Hogan personality test is incredible. It offers a triple view of personality: in normal situations, identifying deep-seated motivations and, above all, revealing counterproductive behavior under stress, our dark side.”

Géraldine sees this tool as a valuable way of helping companies to better understand their employees, taking into account not only their technical skills, but also their behavioral competencies. It's this kind of innovation that she believes will make the difference in tomorrow's management.

His advice: take care of your career

Géraldine has a strong message for the students and alumni of TBS Education: the importance of proactively taking care of your career. She encourages everyone to develop a culture of lifelong learning and not just wait for opportunities to present themselves.

“You have to dare, take care of your professional life and not expect everything from HR departments or managers. Professional life is difficult.”

She also insists on the need to be accompanied by qualified professionals, whether for coaching or skills assessments. For her, investing in oneself is just as essential as investing in material goods such as a car or a telephone.

“We invest in our phones and our vacations, but how much do we invest in ourselves? It's just as important to avoid burn-out and find meaning.”
