Inès EL JAMALI (TBS 2011) - Digital Marketing Entrepreneur
"If you have a desire ... if in doubt, make it happen!"
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Inès El Jamali (Class of 2011). I’m 32 years old and am Franco-Moroccan.
Before I went to TBS, I grew up in Casablanca, and got my school certificate at a French high school. I then went to Paris to do preparatory classes at HEC.
Why did you chose TBS for your studies? Tell us about your time as a student at TBS!
I immediately felt welcome in Toulouse. In fact, during the oral exams, I found the students and team to be very kind. On top of that, Toulouse is a very beautiful city and I immediately liked it. Above all, I was attracted to TBS because it offers joint degrees abroad, particularly in South America, where I was especially interested in studying. Finally, I finally did an exchange in Costa Rica, and my end of study internship in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Have you any stories about your year to share with us? Were you part of a student association at TBS?
My time at TBS was rather short, because I only spent a year and four months in Toulouse before I moved abroad. It was short but intense. I built my adult life and I met my best friends during those years. Additionally, I always felt attached to TBS, even when I was living in Costa Rica and Argentina.
For my last year, I chose the "Online Management" option with digital marketing. There were 16 or 17 people in the class, most of whom were men. We were seen as the geeks of the School. I loved this course because there were only a few of us and we had the opportunity to meet stakeholders who are now influential in France’s digital ecosystem.
What are you doing today and how did you get to this point in your professional career?
After spending five years in Buenos Aires, I’m now working as a freelancer in Barcelona. I help businesses plan and implement their communication strategies online. Also, I Co-Leader the TBS Alumni’s Barcelona Chapter.
What was the end goal when you started work after your degree ? What was your motivation?
I’ve always done what I wanted to do. My goal has always been to have a job where I don’t feel like I'm working and one that has only minimal restrictions.
Why did you choose this field, this path?
I love the digital world, digital strategy, and the internet ecosystem. Also, I was looking for a flexible job that would change over time. Not something too static or structured.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
I see myself in a place that I love, somewhere in Europe.
How has the alumni network been a support for you?
When you’re a freelancer, you need to meet people. In fact, when I arrived in Spain three years ago, I didn’t know anyone so I decided to contact TBS Alumni. The association gave me the chance to meet new people and build new networks, both professional and personal.
What advice would you give to TBS students and/or Alumni, who are looking to follow your career path?
If you want to do something ... don’t hesitate, just it! Don’t regret your journey, and change it as necessary at any given moment as your desires change.
