Olivier de Laforcade launches an activity to rent furnished flats
Olivier de la Laforcade (school year 2012) gave up his position as a buyer at Airbus to launch a business to rent furnished flats between hotels and bed and breakfast.
He is graduate of a dual degree from Enacet TBS in the domain of aero transport management. A path which opens the doors of Airbus where he spent 5 years in the purchasing department.
"I bought airplane motors he explains, but something was missing. And being at my desk all day long was too much."
In 2016, Olivier de Laforcade decides to become an entrepreneur. He takes a sabbatical holiday of 1 year to find a company to buy, especially in the food industry or hotel trade, two sectors he likes.
Before his return to Airbus, “I found this announce on LeBonCoin with a building to sale. It was empty at the time with a lot of work to do”. No matter, the idea was growing. For the new owner, working in hotel trade “allow to travel by procuration. We welcome customers who come from all horizons, we create a link…” Olivier de Laforcade imagine a new concept “different from the traditional hotel trade”, well adapted to the Pink City where “the offer is getting older and the hotel flats lack of charm”
With this frontage made with old stones, its old wooden floor and its stair from the origins, “we could do something different, able to be liked by customers”. Few months of work later, Olivier's wife was in charge of the decoration and a part of the communication. The owner of “La Maison d’Henri” put on the market 14 furnished flats with short-term rent “because it’s what answers the better to the need”, a solution for 1 month, 30% less expensive than traditional hotels” according to Olivier de Laforcade.
He explains that “the customers are tired of hotels where they have to go to the restaurant every day to have a dinner with their smartphones. Here, they have a real kitchen where they can make a “gratin dauphinois” A real terrace where they can regroup, a room to organize their meetings, all of that in a convivial atmosphere”.
The owner adds services in his offer such as: weekly cleaning, meal delivery, breakfast delivery, reception for online shopping, airport transfers, etc.
From 4 months, the occupation rate is increasing reaching 70% in October. That’s a good omen for the landlord who is targeting an annual turnover of 250k€. Proof that the concept seduces: consultants, people in training, businessmen and women and some tourists are coming back to “La Maison”.
The concept works that well that Olivier is already thinking about a second establishment in a more central location.
